About Dr. Meyer

I am a New York state licensed clinical psychologist (Lic. #026889) dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s many challenges, great and small. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) and have trained at a variety of treatment settings including Columbia University Medical Center / The New York State Psychiatric Institute, and Bellevue Hospital-NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where I completed my pre-doctoral clinical internship. I currently serve as a staff psychologist and clinical teaching faculty at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, NY, where I train psychology interns and resident physicians in the provision of psychotherapy. I have extensive experience helping clients work through a variety of difficulties including anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, relationship issues, bereavement, substance use, employment and economic stressors, and personality disorders. Given my role as an inpatient psychologist, I am also comfortable supporting the loved ones of persons living with serious and persistent mental illnesses and guiding families through the complex experience of inpatient hospitalization.

My therapeutic approach involves an interpersonal and integrative style that draws on a variety of treatment modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive and behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), acceptance and commitment (ACT), and trauma-informed frameworks to allow for flexibility based on your individual circumstances.

Prior to my work as a psychologist, I was an attorney and law professor focused on advocating for marginalized populations with an eye toward broader systemic justice. I recognize that many of your stressors may be beyond your control, including socioeconomic and political pressures, racism, sexism and gender bias, homophobia, transphobia, religion-based oppression, the list goes on. I will work with you to develop meaningful strategies to address your personal inner work and your ability to cope with the world and everything in it.

I currently offer 50-minute individual psychotherapy sessions to adults in New York State. All sessions are conducted remotely via a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform to ensure your privacy. I am an out of network provider and do not currently accept insurance. Please visit my Psychology Today page for further billing information.

Disclaimer: Please note that although I am an attorney licensed in the state of California, our work together will not include the provision of any legal advice and that the provision of fees for therapy services does not create an attorney-client relationship or attorney-client privilege.

NOTE: My appointment slots are all currently full. If you would like to be added to the waitlist, please get in touch via the contact page.
